Dahlias in a compote: have fun learning the basics of floral design while creating early Fall centerpieces highlighting Dahlias – queens of the September and October gardens.  Learn some of the hands-on challenges of working with these fall beauties and tricks for putting together perfect bouquets and table arrangements. We will begin this three-hour workshop with a quick tour of the farm. Butternut Gardens nurtures and cuts from over 500 dahlia plants each year. Following our walkabout, Evelyn will demonstrate techniques for creating a natural, “garden-inspired arrangement, for which she is best known. Many call these “wildflower” arrangements, but most blooms and greens are, in fact, cultivated not collected, and then are artfully crafted to achieve the very appealing natural look. Following the demonstration, each participant will create his or her own centerpiece using a vast array of pre-cut flowers and greens, as well as some they snip themselves as they stroll the aisles of flowers. Beverage and light snacks will be available to tide us over. Butternut Gardens will supply all necessary tools and work aprons. Workshop limited to first 10 people.  Workshop cost: $84. Price includes all flowers and materials. Must have at least 4 participants for this workshop to run so why not sign up with a friend or with your bridal party?
